Makeup storage

Here are some pictures of my vanity/makeup table and how I store my makeup.

I spent a few weeks looking high and low for my dream makeup table and I finally found it.

It’s from Pier 1 and came as a set with the bench. I can sit there all day (especially because it’s in my walk in closet lol) I just love it!

Brand named makeup brushes are over-rated

They say “You get what you pay for”. My opinion is sometimes.

Generally, yes, if something is more expensive you can and should expect better quality.

My experience though with makeup brushes is that it’s not quite that clear cut.

I have brushes from a range of companies: MAC, Sonia Kashuk, Sigma, CVS no name brand, E.L.F and NYX.

I find they pretty much all do what they are intended to do. I purchase brushes based on the size and shape of the head with a specific purpose in mind. Continue reading

Will I visit the zoo again?

My 3 year old asked me recently when we will visit the zoo again.

I told her one day soon but internally I am unsure as to what my feelings are about zoos, aquariums, circuses and the like.

On the one hand they provide education up close and personal of animals people would never otherwise have a chance to encounter. It is fascinating to see them live, and not just on TV. You realize their enormity and beauty among other interesting aspects.

What causes me to hesitate in the wondrous world of these places are the very real horrors that go on behind the scenes, at least in some of these places, I assume.
